On Lantigua's election - The state's first Latino mayor

GO TO BOSTONGLOBE.COM FOR THE STORY

These are baby steps for the largest minority in the country. I don't necessarily view it as a "Dominican" or "Latino" thing but rather a testament of good leadership and getting communities/voters involved in the process. With regards to those who say most minority voters are illegals- you may be right to certain degree but most importantly are the future generations of voters, they are the difference. If voters are involved now, chances are future generations will be even more involved. That is not say one must vote for a "latino" candidate (or any other candidate) simply because he/she is of the same/similar cultural background, nevertheless it is a step in the right direction for the people of Lawrence, it's Latino community and other minorities...

There are a total of 351 towns/cities in MASS. While The City of Lawrence may not be a major city it ranks # 13th in population (just over 70K), not something to sneeze at either...

Get involved, vote and let your collective voices really be heard... regardless of who is running.

Congrats to Mr. Lantigua and the citizens of Lawrence - now get to work and make the city a better place for all ..

WESTERN UNION CASH ADVANCE FEES

So I figured I would give Western Union online service a try. At first It was love at first sight, but as it turns out when my credit card bill came that love quickly turned into hate.

To add insult to injury, Western Union customer service is absolutely horrible.
Bottom line, If you are thinking about using WU online services to send cash abroad you better think twice because all credit card or debit transaction are considered cash advances. Not only are you paying WU a fee to send the money but you must also pay your credit card provider a cash advance fee.

back-to-school

As you might have heard The President is going to give a back-to-school speech on Tuesday.

People like Jay Severin (on 96.9, Boston) have done nothing but spew hate, as is usually the norm with politically or immigration related issues. However to use the President's inspirational back-to-school speech directed at kids to tell parents that " government wants to brainwash your children " is absurd... but tehn again what can one expect from someone who is paid millions to call immigrants "primitives", "leeches", "criminaliens"... the sad part is there're people in Boston who actually buy his nonsense...

One of these days Severin's radio hate speech will get someone killed and when it happens I hope the full weight of the law is used against him.

According to Jay Severin, this is what the kids will be brainwashed with - excepts from the speech at WhiteHouse.gov :

" if you quit on school – you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country. "

" I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things. "

" [..] you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time. "

Thank you Pres. Obama for encouraging our youth
...

Van Jones

During a conference environmentalist czar Van Jones (appointed by The Obama admin..) stopped short of saying whites are "intentionally poisoning blacks and latinos" -- WTF ?? it seems spewing hate has become the sole agenda of a selected few in the current administration.

Feeling voter's remorse yet ??

Van Jones was fired (or technically asked to resign) from the Obama administration. Regardless of what the media outlets say was the reason for his abrupt departure, it is my strong believe the man was preaching hate... using "green jobs" as a
subliminal pretext... just watch his speeches on you tube. Is just one of those things that make you wonder what his true feelings and desires are.

As I recall , a few months ago Atty. General Eric Holder had tantrum similar to that of Van Jones. I'd like to leave both men with the following quote --

"I have decided to stick with love.
Hate is too great a burden to bear. "

Mark Lloyd <3 Chavez

CHAVEZ wants to strip 240 radio stations of their licenses ,
that is approx 40% of all stations in the country,
thus far he's succeeded in revoking 34 of them
...
Mark Lloyd,
New FCC " Diversity " Chief
who worships Chavez thinks this is
perfectly OK and in fact wants to try
something similar in the US..

just something to ponder on ...
feeling voter's remorse yet ??

Un mosquito intenta picar a un elefante

Chavez, Usted no llega ni a los tobillos de Vargas Llosa. Así que, a menos que tenga que decir algo constructivo, cállese la boca xenofobo.
